Hurricane Katrina

The Librarians Index to the Internet has compiled an up-to-date and comprehensive set of links on all aspects of Hurricane Katrina, from aid and charities to the impact on libraries.  LII employs librarians who hand-pick and abstract the websites in its database.  

Anxious Times

Managing Anxiety in Times of Crisis  Advice on coping with fear and anxiety related to disasters, war, and terrorism. Includes parent and teacher guides.  U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Information on Coping with Traumatic Events  Information on reactions and disorders related to crises, including the September 11, the Oklahoma City bombing, wars in the Middle East, and natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina.  National Institute of Mental Health.

Healthy Minds Healthy Lives.  Advice and links on college mental health, including anxiety, depression, substance use and eating disorders, as well as information about coping with storm related disasters and the emotional effects of trauma caused by destruction and loss of life.  American Psychiatric Association.

Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA)  Provides descriptions and treatment for generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
