Turnitin.com:  Preventing Plagiarism

SCC has purchased access to the Turnitin (http://www.Turnitin.com) plagiarism prevention service.

Turnitin's Features:

Plagiarism Prevention: Instantly identifies papers containing unoriginal material (from Internet content – both current and archived – including commercial pages from books, newspapers and journals. from any papers submitted by students or instructors. )

Peer Review: Students can review and respond to their classmates' work online.

GradeMark: The ability to mark student work in a unique, paperless environment.

GradeBook: A tool that enables instructors to manage grades and assignments online.

Getting Setup with Turnitin:

If you have a Blackboard course, Turnitin is built into the Control Panel (for instructions see http://ic.arc.losrios.edu/~itc/Blackboard/pages/Turnitin.com_Bb_Faculty_Instructions.htm)

If you don't have a Blackboard course, stop by Melissa Green's office during her drop-in hours (Tues. 1-3 and Wed. 11-1) to set up an account and to learn more about the service. Once you have an account, you can go to http://www.Turnitin.com/static/training.html to view the Plagiarism Prevention training video.

Staff Resources will announce training for Turnitin this semester.  Watch for it!
