Library Databases: Full-Text At Your Fingertips

Right now, all SCC students, faculty, and staff have instant, free, 24 hour access to the full-text of thousands of articles in magazines, journals, and newspapers on virtually every topic in publication, as well as access to the full contents of nearly 7500 electronic books through the library's subscription databases.

Periodical databases comprise the bulk of most library periodical collections.  We encourage you to accept printouts from library database as the equivalent of photocopies from hard copy publications.

Access to the library databases is a simple matter of going to the SCC Library homepage, clicking on Databases, and typing in a student access card number or employee ID number and a library PIN.  If you are on campus, you don't even need to type the numbers.

A Word About Your Library PIN

Students have automatic library PINs, generated when they activate their Access Card as a library card.  Faculty and staff create their own unique PIN in LOIS.  If you forget your library PIN, contact the library circulation desk at 558-2301 to have it reset.

Get your library notices by email and save paper!

You can receive your library notices (overdue notices, notification of interlibrary loans, and other automatic notices) in your email rather than in your campus mailbox.  Send an email to Yolanda Escobar (escobay@scc.losrios.edu) or Lorilie Roundtree (roundtl@scc.losrios.edu) and ask to have your email address added to your library record.
