Distance Education
The following services are available for our distance education students:
LOIS (the Library Catalog):
Access the catalog to look for books and other materials owned by the Los
Rios libraries. Currently registered students, staff, and faculty may request books from other Los Rios libraries, place holds on books currently
checked out (except for Reserve books), renew the books they have checked
out (one time only online) and access the electronic databases.
Accessing Databases Remotely:
All subscription databases may be accessed from off-campus. Users will be prompted to log in with their Los Rios identification number and password.
Electronic Reserves:
Patrons may access some course readings electronically. The library cannot provide
everything electronically, so you will need to check the catalog for your
course to see what is available online. To check for electronic resources,
look in LOIS for your course either
by course name or instructor name. If any of the items show the phrase “Click
on Title for Electronic Copy” then click on the title. You will be asked to log in using your Los Rios user ID and password before the document opens. Adobe
Acrobat Reader is required to view items in PDF format. For more
information, refer to the FAQs.
Online Courses:
The library offers the following classes online:
LIBR 318 –
Library Research and Information Literacy
Library Information Technology
Program
TV Courses:
Tapes from televised courses are available in the LRC. They can be viewed
on the premises, or rented out when available. See the
Distance Education page for more information.
