      PILOT

PILOT, Path to Information Literacy Online Tutorial, is a self-paced interactive tutorial that teaches information literacy skills.  It contains six modules.  Each module is designed to teach a different aspect of information literacy skills:

• Module One Identifying Sources - explains types of information sources that can be used to answer personal interest or research questions.
• Module Two Choosing Topics - explains pre-searching activities.
• Module Three Searching LOIS - explains how to use LOIS, the library catalog for LRCCD libraries.
• Module Four Finding Articles - explains how to use periodical databases to locate articles for research.
• Module Five Using the Web - explains how to get the most out of searching the web.
• Module Six Citing Sources - explains citing information sources, plagiarism, and copyright.

Each module is designed to take less than 60 minutes to complete.  Actual time spent on each module will vary depending on your familiarity with the topics. 

PILOT is available 24/7 and it's free to all students.

     Proof of Completion: Each module in PILOT contains a self-grading quiz at the end.  You can send your quiz results to your instructor's email.  If you intend to do so, make sure that you register at the beginning of PILOT before taking the tutorial.  Registration is free.  Please contact Sue Chen at chens@scc.losrios.edu if you have further questions.
