2593 Students Are Ready to Roll on Library Research

2593 students completed library instruction sessions in Fall 2005 and are set to shine on their next research assignment. They've learned to find appropriate books, targeted journal articles, and quality web sites. They know how to order books from other campuses and renew their books online. They probe library databases and download full text articles like pros. Wish your students could do the same?

Bring your class to the library for customized, hands-on orientations that are tailored to your pre-determined assignment or course objective. Schedule a customized orientation for your class online, or call Stephanie McDonald (558-2014).

Or send your students to the library to sign up for a drop-in orientation on their own time. Drop-ins are scheduled throughout the semester, including evenings and Saturday. Students attend a 50-minute session and receive a "Proof of Attendance" slip after successfully completing the class session and a worksheet that reinforces the lesson. The librarians teach four types of drop-ins:

Section A: Take a brief tour; locate library books using the computer; learn inter-library loan
Section B: Locate magazine, journal, and newspaper articles on the computer
Section C: Evaluate web sites; use search tools & subject directories; cite online sources
ESL Section: Recommended for ESL students, but anyone may attend
