Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can check out books?
Only current students, faculty and staff can check out books.
- How many books can I check out at once?
Students can check
out up to seven (7) circulating books and 2 additional Reserve books at
one time.
- How do I get a library card?
You can obtain a library card on the first floor service desk (Instructional
Media). You must be a currently registered student and have photo ID with
you when you request the card.
- How do I pay library fines?
Students can come to the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor of LRC to
pay their library fines. Only cash and checks are accepted. Students can
also mail their check of payment to the library. You cannot pay your
library fine online. For more information about library fines, please
read the Circulation Policy.
- Is the library open on weekends?
The library is open on Saturday from 9:00 – 3:00.
- How can I learn to use the library?
The librarians offer several Drop-in
orientations throughout the semester to help students learn how to
locate materials in the library, search the online databases, and
effectively do research on the Internet.
- Why can’t I check out magazines?
Like the Reference collection, the magazines are resources that need to be
available to all students at all times. Therefore, they do not circulate.
- Does the library have Internet access for students?
Yes, the library provides Internet access for students as well as for
members of the community. Students need to login on the computers using
their ID number and password.
- Can I use my own computer in the library?
Yes, you can use your own laptop in the library. There are wireless
connections on all floors in the LRC building.
- Is wireless connection available in the library?
Yes, there are wireless connections on all floors in the LRC building.
- What databases does the library provide?
The library subscribes to approximately 30 general and subject-specific
databases.

- How can I access the databases from home?
You can access all of the databases from home with your "w" login number and
unified password.
- Where can I find my textbooks in the library?
Many, but not all, current textbooks are on Reserve at the Circulation
Desk on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center. You need to
get the call numbers of your textbooks from the
library catalog before you go to the Circulation desk.
- Are there rooms for group study in the library?
Yes, there are four (4) study rooms on the second floor of the Learning
Resource Center for student use. They can seat 4-5 people comfortably. They
are equipped with table, chairs and a white board. Dry erase markers are
available at the Reference desk. Groups can sign up at the Reference desk to
use the rooms for up to two (2) hours per day.
