Practical Steps to Evaluating an Internet Resource
In this section we will consider the process of evaluating the quality of an Internet resource.
It can pay to think like a detective:
look for clues
consider the motives of people publishing on the Internet
trust nobody - until you have found good cause to do so!
It is very easy to become "lost in Cyberspace" and so before discussing the quality criteria that can be used to evaluate an Internet resource consider the detective work needed:
be clear about your purpose
orientate yourself within cyberspace
get clues about the context from URLs
establish the type of resource you are looking at
evaluate the resource against quality criteria
weigh up the pros and cons in the light of your purpose
Try it Out
