HISTORY
The SCC Classified Senate was formed in 1991 by a dedicated group of Classified staff to facilitate their participation in the shared governance process. Inspired by the Accreditation Self-Study and subsequent site Visit by the Accreditation team, a Constitution and set of By-laws were drawn up and voted on by the entire constituency. The first elections were held and our organization was sanctioned by the statewide classified senate; California Community Colleges Classified Senate
OFFICERS
Our organization has five elected offices: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and State Representative. Current Officers are: President Kelly Irwin, Vice-President Amanda Hamilton, Secretary Vivian Hickey, Treasurer Charlotte Humphreys
, and State Representative Monica Souza.
All officers serve a one-year term beginning July 1 and ending June 30. Classified Staff members from different areas/departments on campus are selected to be Area Representatives and serve voluntarily for as long as they wish. Their responsibility is to attend the monthly Senate meetings, as voting members, and report back to their areas on issues discussed.
