Elizabeth
Chape, P.T., Ph.D. (program
coordinator / instructor )
Beth is a graduate of the US-Army Baylor University program in Physical Therapy.
She has completed graduate studies in Health Science at San
Francisco State University, and earned her doctorate in Psychology
from Capella University in 2005. Areas of interest
include orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation, educational
psychology, and health promotion and wellness. Continuing education
includes long-term courses in proprioceptive neuromuscular
facilitation, neuro-developmental treatment, and the Feldenkrais
approach to movement education.
Pat
Harris, P.T., M.S. (instructor)
Pat is a graduate of UCB in Zoology, the NYU certificate program in Physical
Therapy, and Long Island Univ. advanced masters program
in Physical Therapy. Her clinical area of interest is
adult neurological disorders, and she has earned both adult and pediatric NDT certification.
She was formerly a supervisor at Santa Clara Valley
Medical Center, and has also taught in the CSUS program
in physical therapy. Pat is a full-time
faculty member with the physical therapist assistant program at SCC
and has responsibility for coordination of clinical
education activities.
Kathy Bechtold, M.P.T. (adjunct
instructor)
Kathy earned her graduate degree in physical therapy
from USC. She is a Certified Wound Specialist and a
Certified Hand Therapist. She completed a post-graduate
Certificate Program in Examination, Assessment, and
Intervention of the Hand and Upper Quadrant at Samuel
Merritt College in 2005 and has done an internship in
PNF at Kaiser Vallejo. She has been a clinician and
manager of acute care, outpatient, wound care, and
skilled nursing rehab services at Sutter Davis Hospital
for 18 years. Kathy has also been an adjunct instructor
at UOP and CSUS.
Celia Fry, P.T. (adjunct instructor)
Celia earned her degree in Physical Therapy from Calif. State Long Beach.
Her clinical areas of interest include adult and geriatric neurological
and orthopedic rehabilitation. She was a rehabilitation
director at Burger Rehabilitation from 1988 - 2006 and
has taught in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program
at SCC since 1994. Celia now lives in Port Townsend,
Washington and continues to teach via 'distance
education'.
Brenda Lee, P.T., M.S. (adjunct
instructor)
Brenda is a graduate of Brigham Young University in exercise science
and Chatham College in physical therapy.
Brenda’s clinical expertise is in pediatric physical
therapy. She has worked for California Children’s
Services since 2000. Brenda has a special interest in
working with students in problem-based learning
activities.
John Linberger, P.T.A.,
B.S. (adjunct instructor)
John is a
graduate of the Physical Therapist Assistant program at
Stark State College in Canton, Ohio and has a B.S. in
health care management from Franklin University. His
primary experience as a PTA is in outpatient physical
therapy and he has been recognized for Advanced
Proficiency in Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy by the
APTA. John also is certified as a clinical instructor.
Currently he serves as the Chief Delegate of the PTA
Caucus of the American Physical Therapy Association
representing the interest of the PTA Membership
nationally.
Tom McCoin, M.P.T.
(adjunct instructor)
Tom earned his graduate degree in physical therapy
from Chapman University. He combines his love of sports
(water polo, bike racing, Ironman triathlon) with a
diverse background in physical therapy (pediatrics,
geriatrics, neurological and orthopedic rehab,
aquatic therapeutic exercise). Tom is also a certified
adaptive alpine ski instructor.
Russ Sato, P.T.A., M.B.A. (adjunct instructor)
Russ was a graduate of the first SCC Physical
Therapist Assistant cohort in 1995. He has also earned his B.S. from California State University
Sacramento and his MBA from National University. His clinical areas of
interest are adult and geriatric cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and
wound care. He is also a certified ergonomic specialist. Russ was
the Director of
Rehabilitation at Kindred Hospital of Sacramento from 1997 - 2004.
He is currently administrative manager for the Sutter Orthopaedic
Institute.
Kasey Warren, P.T. (adjunct
instructor)
Kasey earned her undergraduate degree from the Univ. of California Santa Barbara in
psychology and her physical therapy degree from the Washington University School of
Medicine, program in Physical Therapy. Her
clinical areas of interest include: orthopedics, manual
therapy, aquatic therapeutic exercise, and women's
health. She has been employed in clinical practice,
management, and education. She is currently
employed as a home health therapist with
Kaiser Permanente.
