Approximately thirty students are
enrolled in the
program each year. Students must submit applications to
the Allied Health Division PTA
Program between March 1 and April 15 to be considered
for enrollment for the fall semester. The
2009
Application is available. Official
transcripts are required with the application. In order
to be considered eligible for the enrollment process,
the applicant must meet the following criteria:
1. Have completed the following
courses with grades of "C" or better, and a
minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5:
a. PTA 100, Introduction to
Physical Therapist Assistant, 1.5 semester units
b. Biology 430 & 431, Anatomy and Physiology, or equivalent courses, within
the past ten years (The final
semester of anatomy/physiology may be in progress at
time of application.)
c. ENGWR 300 (or ESLW 340),
College Composition, 3 semester units
2. Eligibility for English 310, College Analytical and Speed Reading, as determined by
the reading assessment process, or completion of English
110, Efficient Reading, for all applicants who do
not have an AA Degree or higher.
Applicants who have fulfilled
these requirements are placed in the eligible applicant
pool. If there are more applicants than space available,
the class is randomly selected from eligible
applicants.
Transfer Students:
Students from other accredited PTA programs
may apply to transfer to the Sacramento City College PTA program.
Enrollment depends upon evidence of completion of equivalent
academic and clinical course work, and on space available in
the program.
