Here is another temporary position in Los Angeles. 

LAC is seeking a Clerical / Library Assistant to work in a University library in West Los Angeles. This is a temporary full-time (35 - 40 hours per week) position to begin immediately and last through April 2010. Start and end times will be set by the University and will be Monday-Friday only.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Page by page condition reporting of paper journals - including comparing the pages to a print-out with a suggested pagination sequence and simultaneously noting small to large damages with the volumes.
  • Editing/revising the work of peers, double checking for errors or omissions in the condition of reporting process.
  • Data entry, including transferring written notes into a standardized database.
  • Perform additional duties as needed or requested.

(NOTE: This work will be performed in two 3-hour blocks of time) and 1 hour away performing other duties. Headsets and music are allowed while working.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to commit to a six (6) month position;
  • Ability to sit for long periods (two 3-hour blocks per day);
  • Ability to perform routine / repetitive work;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Data entry experience;
  • Ability to work independently after initial training;
  • Previous experience in a library or bookstore preferred but not mandatory.

Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks a Library Technician to work in a fast-paced professional services firm in Downtown Los Angeles. This is a part-time, regular (ongoing) position of approximately 16 hours a week. Our ideal candidate is looking for regular, part-time work. Please note that a candidate must have previous experience with Sirsi in order to be considered. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serials Check-in and verification.
  • Mail sorting and routing.
  • Other duties as needed.

  Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of previous experience with Sirsi is required.
  • Previous library experience is mandatory.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in a special library, strongly preferred.
  • Law firm experience is desirable.

Job Announcement: Library Technical Assistant for an on-going P/T position (Vacaville, CA) (Patty De Anda)

Library Associates Companies (LAC) is seeking a on-going Library Technical Assistant to work two days per week (16 hours) for a Correctional Institution in Vacaville, California. The candidate will be called on to fill-in for vacation, maternity leave, sabbatical leave as required. Paid training will be provided both for in-service and onsite training time. The candidate will be under the supervision of the Senior Librarian. This is a great opportunity to obtain library experience for a candidate either in library school or in an community college with a library technical program. Hours will be arranged by the Librarian with some flexibility available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide relief for the Senior Librarian; directly supervise the inmate library clerks in their performance of their duties.

* Assist in preparing book orders, retrieving books from the mailroom/warehouse and communicating with Accounting/procurements units to make sure books are being processed in a timely manner.

* Supervise inmate recreational library clerks and the operation of both the book processing and book cart operations; ensuring that requests are filled.

* Attend training programs on rules, regulations and operating procedures of the library and the institution.

* Perform special duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience as a library technical assistant or clerk preferred

* Enrollment in a community college technical assistant program or in a university library science program.

* Good people skills!
