NYTimes.com-to-LexisNexis Academic Bookmarklet
The New York Times website allows non-subscribers only a certain number of page views, after which it will stop displaying full articles. Use this bookmarklet to open the full-text article in LexisNexis Academic, one of the Los Rios Libraries' subscription databases. If you are off-campus, you will be prompted to log in with your Los Rios credentials.
Drag the following link to your browser's bookmark bar: NYT->Lexis
If you are unable to drag it using Internet Explorer, right-click it and select "Add to Favorites", go past the security warning, and choose "Favorites Bar".
Limitations:
- this will only work for articles included in the Times"s print edition. If you try it for other pages, you should get a notification that it's not available
- it will only work for Los Rios users
- NYTimes.com posts articles to its website the day before they are published. LexisNexis Academic adds articles to its index the day it is published in print, and not always in the morning. So new articles may not be available for 24 hours or so
- the bookmarklet seems to have problems in some cases when there is punctuation in the title.
