Will paper books die? Not likely, according to many indicators. But we’re likely to see future books and periodicals printed on digital paper, or electronic paper, made of encapsulated positively and negatively charged particles attached to a silicon-based backplane. This electronic paper can be refreshed to display a new copy of the newspaper every morning. Here's an article that summarizes research at E Ink, an electronic development firm:
