Accessing Your Library Record 
and the Research Databases 
with Your Student Access Card 

You will need a Student Access card and a library PIN number to access your library record or the Los Rios library research databases.

Note: Distance Education students may apply for their Access / Library Card number for database access by completing an online form.

How to set up a PIN:

  1. Go to the LOIS catalog at http://lois.losrios.edu (this will open a new window).
  2. Click on the View Your Record button in the lower left corner of the library catalog's main screen.
  3. Fill your Name and Barcode in the form.  
    Your Barcode is the 14 digit number from the front of your Student Access card.  
    The Barcodes at Sacramento City College start with 22104...
  4. Fill in the default PIN.
    Your default PIN is your birth date in the format of YYYYMMDD.  You should change your PIN following the instructions under "Change Your PIN" in "View Your Record."
  5. Click on the "Submit" button.
  6. You can change your PIN at this point by clicking on "Modify Your PIN."  
    You will need to type in the old PIN first (this is the default PIN of YYYYMMDD).  Then choose a new PIN using 5-30 letters and/or numbers of your choice.  You will be prompted to type this new PIN two times.  This last step establishes your new PIN. 

If you are a faculty member there is no default PIN.  You will need to follow steps 1-3 above and then do the following:

  1. Fill in the PIN you wish to use in the system. 
    Your PIN is a Personal Identification Number that you create, using 5-30 letters and/or numbers.  
    Make sure that your pin is something you will remember.
  2. Click on Display record for person named above.
  3. You will be prompted to type your PIN two more times.  This last step establishes your PIN.
  4. Close the LOIS window to return to this screen.

You can now view your circulation record, renew library materials and request materials from other Los Rios campuses in the LOIS catalog.  (Note: you may only renew materials online one time.)  You can also use your pin to access the Research Databases.  Simply close this window and click on OFF-CAMPUS ACCESS.  You will need to enter your library card number and your new PIN to access the databases.

If you lose your PIN you will need to visit the circulation desk in the library to establish a new one.
