**NOTE: THE QUIZ MAY NO LONGER BE SUBMITTED ONLINE THIS SEMESTER. YOU MUST GO TO THE LIBRARY DURING LIBRARY HOURS TO SUBMIT THE QUIZ**

Why are you here?

Why are you completing this orientation?  Because your instructor required it?  To earn extra credit?

Many of you are used to finding information on the Internet with little difficulty.   Modern Internet search tools make finding information very easy.  You can find millions of pages on your topic at the touch of a button.

So, you may be thinking – I already know how to find information on my topic, why do I need to pay attention to this orientation?

To learn how to find and evaluate the QUALITY of information you find on the Internet.

Many of your classes require you to complete research projects.  You have to find information on a variety of topics.

This orientation will help you learn to do research on the Internet.

Before we go any further, let's see how much you know and how much you have to learn.

You should take the pretest (a new window will open).  It isn't graded and will show you a little bit about what will be covered.  It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to finish.  It can't hurt and should help you with this orientation.
