Learning Skills Courses

Two self-paced, individualized, open entry/open exit courses are offered to students who want to improve their reading, writing, basic math, and study skills through multimedia instruction.

  • Human Services 92 (formerly HSER 200) - Prerequisite Skills Assistance
    This variable-unit course is designed to help students acquire or improve their basic skills in reading, writing, or math through multimedia computer instruction or a sound-slide learning system.
  • Human Career Development 360 (formerly HCD 10) - Academic Skills
    This is a variable-unit, independent study course designed to help students improve their study skills using audio-visual, multimedia and print materials. In addition, this course is also available online.
  • Individual conferences are available to assess students' learning needs.
  • Learning skills development in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Learning styles assessment and application of effective study techniques.
