Instructional Media and Academic Computing

The Instructional Media and Academic Computing Department provides access to non-print library resources, audio-visual equipment, two computer labs, and an electronic classroom. Students must have a current Student Access Card to check out media materials. In order to use computer equipment, students must be enrolled in HS 1000 and agree to track each lab visit. Computer labs are available for academic purposes to currently enrolled students. (User Policy)

Operating Hours:

  • LRC 144
  • Monday-Thursday 7:30 am - 8:00 pm
  • Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

  • BUS 152 in Business Building
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Instructional Media Resources:

  • DVDs and videos (over 7,000 programs on a variety of subjects that can be searched through LOIS) (How to search for media)
  • 10 Viewing Stations
  • Two LOIS Stations
  • CD ROM Access
  • Online Resources (reference assistance for students using electronic databases and the Internet)
  • Reserve Materials (DVDs and videos placed on reserve by instructors for student use)
  • Small Group Viewing Room (may be reserved in advance)

Academic Computing Resources:

  • LRC 144, the Learning Resources Academic Computing Lab, provides access to 41 PC stations (including two Adaptive Computer Stations)
  • BUS 152 (map), the Learning Resources Academic Computing Lab, provides access to 63 PC stations (including one Adaptive Computer, and two Express Stations)

All of the computers offer Internet access and the MS Office Suite 2010.

Staff and Faculty Services:

Equipment: The following equipment circulates to faculty for classroom use. A current Staff ID is required. Reservations are recommended as equipment is in heavy demand. Call at (916) 558-2362 for reservations.

Media Materials Requests:

Faculty recommendations are encouraged in the selection of media materials. Please contact Nicole Woolley at (916) 558-2509 or for further information.

Computer Classroom:

Staff may reserve the 28-station computer lab in the LRC (LR 141) for occasional use. Request reservations by sending an email to Please include the date you wish to use the room, starting and ending time, and the name of class or workshop we can expect. You may also call (916) 558-2099 for reservations.
