Frequently Asked Questions

•    the exams are ONLINE
•    (Where to find the questions to answer)
The questions are located in the following places:
The Text for the "Review" and "Critical Thinking" questions; the Investigations Manual for the Investigations and; the AMS website for the online questions
•    Do #s 5, and 7 Review and #7 Critical Thinking questions.
•    When you answer the Review Questions and the Critical Thinking questions: DO NOT WRITE THE QUESTION. Your "complete-sentence" answer should start with a "re-phrasing" of the question (do not start with the word "because" e.g.). For example, for the question: "Describe the layer of the atmosphere that directly interfaces with the ocean." The answer should begin: "The layer of the atmosphere that directly interfaces with the ocean is..."
. Please contact me if you are not sure how to do this...
•    (WEATHER CLASS) Investigations Manual: Do the initial part of, BUT SKIP the "Applications".
•    (BTW, the Investigations fit into 2 columns quite well!)
•    NO Word Perfect / pictures / graphics

•    Save a tree! PLEASE use margins of close to1/2 (.5) inch all around. (I can help you do this.) Headers and footers are not needed.
•    Please label your document with your last name in the following manner: "jones3.doc" for Chapter 3, "jones4.doc" for Chapter 4, etc
•    Put your name at the top of your document: on the top line. IF YOU SEND AN EMAIL: Please put the class you are in within the "Subject" line of the email ("Geog 305" or "Geog 306" or "Geog 308" (no more, no less))
•    All weekly work is due FRIDAY BY 11:59:59 PM (before SATURDAY)
•    Please submit only when you have done everything PER CHAPTER: Review Questions, Critical Thinking, and all of the parts of the Investigations. Put everything (FROM ONE CHAPTER) into one attached document. I WILL NOT GRADE INCOMPLETE WORK.
•    LATE WORK IS DOCKED 20% PER CALENDAR DAY: since work submission counts for ATTENDANCE, every day late counts as a day absent. 3 "late-work / absences" is the point at which you can be dropped.
•    Extra Credit (UP TO 5% OF TOTAL POINTS REGARDLESS HOW EARNED)
o    3 ways to get extra credit (maximum: near 5% of total points (about 60 points)):

1- doing additional Review or Critical Thinking questions
(1 point for the Review questions, 2 points for each Critical Thinking question)
2- FIX wrong answers (1/2 credit back).
You can submit multiple Chapters in a "corrections" document.
3- helping others via the Discussion Board
