Opportunities for Emeriti
The Emeriti Affiliates have been involved in the college
philanthropy efforts for many years. Dr. Vivian
Groza, a math instructor, was one of the original
Emeriti donors, gifting the college with a $100,000
endowment. With its history of giving back to the
college, the Emeriti continue to support the college and
its students with gifts to scholarships, Annual Fund and
Endowments that serve the greatest needs of the campus.
Each year, the Emeriti respond to SCC Foundation appeals
in the following ways:
Scholarships
Individual - $300 minimum
Pooled - Any amount
A $300 gift may establish an EA scholarship bearing your name. You may select the scholarship criteria, which may include one or all of the following: academic area of study, qualifying criteria such as GPA, number of units earned, major, etc. You also have the option of selecting the scholarship recipient(s) for your individual scholarship(s).EA also offers a combined giving opportunity for those who wish to donate a partial scholarship. You are welcome to participate in the scholarship appeal in any amount.
Scholarship gifts are short-term, one-time gifts. If you wish to participate in an income-generating account, establishing an endowment may be the gift of choice for you.
Endowments
An endowment is an income-generating gift that will be held in perpetuity and whose principal shall be left undisturbed. The income earned from the endowment may enable scholarships to be awarded to Sacramento City College students.
Endowed funds:
- Exist in perpetuity
- May be named after the donor or an honoree
- Ensure funding for a specified scholarship or college program
An endowment establishes a trust whose interest income supports a scholarship or a program service. Our staff will gladly assist you in establishing an endowment.
The minimum requirement to create an endowment is
$5,000.
Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is a source of unrestricted
funds for the college.
How to Make a Gift
All contributions, small or large, are welcomed and appreciated. Gifts may be made in a variety of ways.
Cash Gifts
One method of giving a gift to the Emeriti Affiliates is cash, an easy method of contribution. Cash gifts may be used where the need is greatest or you may designate to a specific scholarship or endowment. Maximum charitable income tax deductions are received for cash gifts.
Gifts by Credit Card
The Emeriti Affiliates also accepts gifts by credit card, VISA or MasterCard. You may make an annual pledge and have your pledge payments charged monthly or quarterly; or you may make a gift through a one-time charge with your credit card.
