Process for registering for classes at Sacramento City College

Interested in a career as an air traffic controller? Sacramento City College is an FAA-approved AT-CTI school. Through the program, students can earn an Air Traffic Control, A.S. Degree; this is the first step towards becoming an air traffic controller.

Air traffic controllers maintain a safe and orderly flow of air traffic in the global air traffic control system. They coordinate the movement of air traffic to make sure that planes stay a safe distance apart. Their immediate concern is safety, but controllers also must direct planes efficiently to minimize delays. Some regulate airport traffic through designated airspaces; others regulate airport arrivals and departures.

The program at Sacramento City College does not guarantee employment with the FAA. Graduates of the AT-CTI program are eligible to bypass the Air Traffic Basics Course, which is the first five weeks of qualification training at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.

Please take a look at the FAA Requirements Page to make sure you meet the eligibility required by the FAA.
