- See a Sacramento City College Academic Counselor - To ensure that you are ready to apply to the Nursing Program; see a Sacramento City College Academic Counselor. You will be required to provide an Education Planner issued by an academic counselor with your application.
- Get transcripts - If you have taken and completed any college courses at any time in the past, order your transcripts from all institutions, right away. Order 3 sets as follows and submit one set with the application, keep the second set to submit to Admissions and Records if admitted to the program , and keep one set for yourself.

- Nursing Program Application - The next application period for the Nursing Program will be January 2009 for the Fall 2009 semester. Applications will be available on and after January 27, 2009 online at http://wserver.scc.losrios.edu/~nursing or at the Science and Allied Health Office of Sacramento City College, located in Mohr Hall, room 18, 3835 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95822. - The program requirements are as follows:
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the enrollment process for the Associate Degree Nursing Program the applicant must:
- Be a high school graduate or have received a "certificate of proficiency" granted by the California State Department of Education of having obtained GED scores as required by the Nurse Practice Act. Foreign students and students with an Associate Degree or higher are advised to ask an academic counselor about this requirement.
- Have a minimum combined GPA of 3.0 in the prerequisite science courses - no grade lower than a "C":

- Due to the accelerated pace of this program, it is highly recommended that the following corequisites be completed before entering the Nursing Core Classes:
SOC 300 or ANTH 310
COMM 301 or 331
- All Sacramento City College General Education requirements for graduation should be completed at the time of application to the Associate Degree Nursing Program, Extended Campus.
- NOTE: Preference will be given to those applicants who have co-requisites: SOC 300 or ANTH 310 and COMM 301 or COMM 331 and General Education requirements completed at the time of application to the Associate Degree Nursing Program, Extended Campus
- An education plan prepared by a Sacramento City College Academic Counselor must be submitted with the application.
The education plan serves as a checklist to assure you and the Director of the Nursing Program that you have successfully completed all of the program pre-requisites.
- All applicants to the Sacramento City College Extended Campus Nursing Program at Sutter Center for Health Professions must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and submit results with completed application packets. Retaking the test to achieve scores greater than 67, does not improve selection into the program.
- Answer Questions 7 and 8 in the space provided on the application in your own handwriting.

Complete NURSE 325, Dosage Calculation
Complete AH 110, Medical Language
Complete NURSE 120, Preparing for a Nursing Career.
Be able to read, write, comprehend and speak the English language
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Submit the following together in a manila envelope to the Science & Allied Health Division Office, Mohr Hall, Room 18, Sacramento City College Campus by the application deadline. Applications and/or transcripts that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
- Application
- Reading assessment report
- Proof of High School graduation (photocopies of diploma, GED certificate or unofficial high school transcripts acceptable)
- Education plan
- College transcripts
- TEAS test results
- Course catalog descriptions, if applicable.
- Completion of the program eligibility requirements places the applicant in the eligible applicant pool.
- Students will be notified in writing of their enrollment status six to eight weeks after the application deadline, not the date of application submittal.
- There are no recency requirements for prerequisite courses for the Associate Degree Nursing Program (recency refers to the length of time since the courses have been taken).

If required pre-requisite courses are taken at colleges other than the Los Rios Community College District, and are not titled the same, please provide catalog course descriptions for evaluation. If not included in the admission packet, the student may not receive credit for the course. |

If you are not currently enrolled at Sacramento City College, and you have been accepted to the Nursing Program, you will need to fill out a Los Rios Community College District admission application online at http://wserver.scc.losrios.edu, and have one set of official transcripts on file in Admissions and Records. If official transcripts are not on file in the Admissions and Records office at the time for petition for graduation from the nursing program, the student may be denied. Please remember: an official set of transcripts must also be submitted with the application for enrollment in nursing.
