One of the best ways to get out information (at no charge) on your department or program is to submit it to relevant trade journals. Are you a member of an organization affiliated with your profession? Do you have a special class, seminar or program scheduled that will be of interest to other members? You can work with the public information office on the who, what, where, when and why and a contact name and number to include when you submit your information for publication. Maybe they'll write a story. Chances are, your information will at least be included in their calendar of upcoming events.
