FYIPROGRAMS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Programs scheduled to air will be broadcasted on Mondays at 3:00-4:00pm, Tuesdays at 3:00-4:00pm and Fridays from 3:30-3:30pm. All programs will be shown on Comcast (AT&T) Broadband Cable Channel 15 (or SureWest Channel 21). Videotaped programs are also available for viewing at the SCC Learning Center (Instructional Media: phone 558-2362). The third option is there are a limited amount of rental tapes available by calling 558-2361. Students are required to complete the assigned readings in the textbook and study guide before watching the program. After viewing the assigned program, answer the assigned questions located at the end of the corresponding chapter. This process will assist your exam preparation.

How the process works: Review each program as stated on the attached schedule, and complete the study guide questions after each program. Program 1, for example, can be viewed on June 11 (Comcast/AT&T Broadband Cable (or SureWest) Channel) or it can be checked-out from the SCC Learning Center. Review the assigned reading in the study guide before viewing the program and, after watching the program, respond to the assigned review questions located at the end of the chapter. (Follow this process for each program.)
  • (Where to find the questions to answer)
The questions are located in the following places:
1)The Text for the "Review" and "Critical Thinking" questions; the Investigations Manual for the Investigations and Applications( parts A & B)

Please email all 3 groups/types/categories (all work) in one document.
Please put the answers in the following order:
    1. Review Questions
    2. Critical Thinking
    3. Inv. A (both parts)
    4. Inv. B (both parts)
  • Critical Thinking questions: See the Assignments link in Blackboard
  • When you answer the Review Questions and the assigned Critical Thinking questions: DO NOT WRITE THE QUESTION.
Your "complete-sentence" answer should start with a "re-phrasing" of the question (do not start with the word "because" e.g.).

For example, for the question: "Describe the layer of the atmosphere that directly interfaces with the ocean."
The answer should begin: "The layer of the atmosphere that directly interfaces with the ocean is..."
Please contact me if you are not sure how to do this.
  • Please label your attachment with your last name in the following manner: "jones3.doc" for Week 3 ("jones4.doc" for Week 4, etc)
  • Please put the class you are in in the "Subject" line of the email (Geog 306 or Geog 308) Put your name at the top of your document (in the document!)
  • All weekly work is due Sat. BY 11:59:59 PM (before Sunday)
  • Save a tree! Try to use margins of .6 inches all around. Headers and footers are not really needed.
  • (BTW, the Investigations fit into 2 columns quite well!)
  • Please submit only when you have done everything: Review Questions, Critical Thinking, and the 4 parts of the Investigations. Please put everything into one attached document.
  • Submit table data, but ...NO Word Perfect / pictures / graphics
After doing the initial part of each Investigation, proceed to the "Applications".
Extra Credit and Fixing Errors on the Homework

3 ways to get extra credit (maximum : near 5% of total points (about 50 points)):
1- doing extra Critical Thinking questions
2- FIX wrong answers (1/2 credit back): points will be added to Extra Credit.
3- helping others via the Discussion Board
