California Community Colleges are committed to serving adults of all ages who can profit from instruction, and they have a special responsibility to ensure equal access to post-secondary education. The colleges provide transfer education, employment preparation, instruction, continuing and community education. To enable students to participate successfully in the programs of the college, many student support services are also provided.
If you are interested in applying for Financial Aid, begin the process as early as possible. You may also qualify for a fee waiver based on your income or if you are currently receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), General Assistance or Social Security Disability (SSI). How to Enroll
Step 1 - Admission:
Complete an

Step 2 - Assessment: Take the English, reading, and math assessment; thereafter, a counselor uses your profile and assessment results, along with other criteria to help you select appropriate classes [Student Services Building Room 121 - (916) 558-2540]
Step 3 - Orientation: As a first-time college student you will be given information on a variety of academic programs, policies and procedures. A tour of the campus will be provided where you will learn more about our support services. You will also receive assistance in selecting and scheduling classes. [Rodda North 138 - (916) 558-2147]

Step 4 - Counseling/Advising: You will receive advice in selecting courses and information regarding transfers, certificates or degree programs, majors and career planning. [Rodda North 147 - (916)

Step 5 - Registration: If you take advantage of steps one through four, you will be able to enroll during Priority 1 enrollment. You may register through Telephone Enrollment Services at (916)

Step 6 - Get your Student Access Card The Student Access card is your: Official College Photo ID Card, Regional Transit Pass Card, College Library Card, GoPrint Card, Discount Card at Participating Stores
Exempt Criteria
This process is strongly recommended to any student who wishes to receive a certificate, an A.S. or A.A. Degree, or transfer to a four-year institution. You can, however, be exempt from participating in orientation, assessment, counseling or advisement if you have:
- Completed an associate degree or higher; or
- Satisfied at least two of the following and do not wish to participate:
- Identified a goal of upgrading job skills;
- Enrolled in fewer than six units;
- Concurrently enrolled in another post-secondary institution; or
- Have no degree or occupational objective.
- If you have been declared exempt, you will be notified that you are covered by an exemption and given the opportunity to elect whether or not to participate in the matriculation process or any part of the matriculation process.
